Video prompts investigation of child abuse at youth boot camp

In this day and age, I wonder why "people" take videos of situations like this as opposed to intervening SSgt (Join to see) to help the abused or downtrodden.
Whenever I see videos like this my first question is this a legitimate video or a staged video.
I don't know the answer.
I am glad nobody was filming our military corporal punishment in the 1970s such as cutaways, dying cockroach formations, etc.. Of course in those days cell phones and personal computers were decades away.
Since this is supposed to a youth boot camp which I assume means it is correctional camp to change behavior we shouldn't be surprised to see discipline.
It looks somewhat staged. I was expecting one or more of the "instructors" to start beating on the boy but nobody laid a finger on him and they seemed to go to great lengths to make sure they didn't touch him.

Pretty sure this is real.. No one can know for sure, but an eight year old.. is hard to cry like that....

SGT (Join to see) - I respect your opinion. However, as the adults they are or should be the responsible ones. Imagine the negative side effects this could have on this child. They took this particular situation way too far.

Yes ma'am. I agree. Verbal abuse is just as bad, if not worse, than physical abuse. They didn't do their "job?" well. Acting like bullies instead of instructors , was pretty cheap. The kid probably already had some severe problems and this did make it worse.

SGT (Join to see) my sentiments exactly. We often forget the damage that people carry with them on the daily and how close to an edge someone might be.
We need to take our youth and teach them. YES, we have some that are just totally disrespectful, but let's find out how and why they turned out this way. Love and understanding can turn any situation around.

You're so right SSG Trust Palmer. Those kids are supposed to assigned to a boot camp atmosphere, not a death camp atmosphere. All the screaming, shoving, and pushing going on isn't going to make a kid straighten up. It will make them worse plus adding on fear as another problem with them. Talking calmly and showing them you really care, would go much further.

Children are not recruits. We do not run agoges.
Finally the utter lack of uniformity makes their shouting look like a mob, not training. Their professionalism was already in doubt and its just one more failing to add to the list.

Sgt Aaron Kennedy, MS Even if it is scared straight.... maybe I just dont understand those programs, but Marines should know better than to be all a shambles in their uniforms and to turn it up to 11 outside of recruit training.

This looks to me to be a recruit training exercise for the young Marines program. Both of my sons were in the program, but we did not use real drill instructors during the recruit training. We did use real drill instructors under my supervision to teach drill. I had several drill instructors in my company that were former young Marines and wanted to give back to the program. But I can tell you that no bullshit like this happened while we supported the program.
