SFC (Join to see) Funny how they hate paying for the people in the military, but have no problem throwing money at a weapons system to polish the turd until it glows. Just think if they took the JSF funding, scrapped the program (which they will never do because of already invested funds), and diverted the money from that one money pit to proper care for active duty, retired, and veteran service members? The biggest problem with healthcare systems is that they are not about curing people. They are about creating repeat customers. Now if the VA was turned over to private companies, and they were paid a government rate for treating veterans, veteran care would not improve. Veterans would be treated the same as the uninsured because the helath care systems would not make as much money off veteran care as they would off billing insurance companies. So when it comes to veteran's health care you have option 1) the current broken system that lets people die waiting for care. 2) turning Veteran care over to the private industry and hope that they provide adequate care based on what they are paid by the government. 3) Create a Veteran Insurance program that pays the hospitals a comparable rate to what big insurance pays so that the quality of care is guaranteed. Any way you slice it, the VA needs to be overhauled. That overhaul is going to cost money. To those who need that care, this should not be a political game.

They want to close these down, yet the senators, and representatives, don't mind going to them for health care, unless their at home and see their family doc. The veterans and service members that go to these facilities don't have the funds that politicians do.

Your ideology of the political parties is greatly skewed and shows a lack of understanding in general. First off, BOTH parties sent the US to war, not just one. As a matter of fact, historically speaking, Democratic Presidents have sent this country to war more than Republicans. The VA is a broke system, as has already been explained to you. Just because you've been lucky and haven't had a bad experience doesn't mean the system is not broke. A simple google search can show you the massive problems with the VA system.

SFC (Join to see) - Uh, I hate to tell you this buddy, but I've been in for 20 years now and my benefits have always been decreased (i.e. pay raises) under Democrats and better under Republicans.

SFC Justin Scott - They sure have been. They have been whittling away at them for the past 40 years. They'll probably stop when they have to serve!

Last I checked, W, Cheney and Rumsfeld are Republicans.

LTC (Join to see) - What do Cheney and Rumsfeld have to do with what I said? Neither a VP nor a SECDEF have any authority to take the nation to war.
