CW3 Chuck Eastman I absolutely agree we NEED to do more to help both Veterans and Active Duty! As a suicide attempt survivor, my Command could have done quite a bit more to prevent my attempt while on Active Duty.
Now, as a Veteran and a retired Behavior Therapist, there is still much more which Needs to be done. I also attempted suicide twice as a Veteran. Luckily, I have a safety plan in place and utilize it whenever necessary. Unfortunately, the lack of MH services within the VAMC’s and failure to see Veterans in person contributes to this problem. Cyber bullying is now also a contributing factor. Veterans and Active Duty all need a ‘safe space’ to be able to work with and through these issues...just my two cents

Thank you for sharing SPC Nancy Greene . Along with services for active duty and veterans, there also need to be brave voices like your own that can help reduce the stigma, and importance of getting help.
