USS Fitzgerald (DDG 62) Yokosuka Arrival After Collision At Sea

Not sure if anything has been posted on Donations for the USS Fitzgerald DDG 62, but I thought I would pass along information that I have gathered. I'm proud of my Navy Family for rallying together to take care of each other!

Be aware that we aren't talking about normal deployment items to put in care packages, the berthing on the ship was hit, many people lost everything. clean clothes, socks, under garments and toiletries are a priority. Snacks and little things are nice but Yokosuka is a great family, between volunteers and the USO they are taking care of the sailors on the little things. Note: if you're mailing a package, you'll need to fill out a customs form describing what's in the box. Since this is a military address, you can use a flat rate shipping box from USPS and you will get a discount on the flat rate too. Amazon also ships to APO/FPO addresses as well. PLEASE be sure the address is correct to avoid shipping mistakes. And yes include ALL your personal information as the sender. Just write on the to line Relief donations so the mail person in the ship will know where to send them. (Note: a lot of this information was for those who may have not sent a care package before)

As I keep an eye on the USS Fitzgerald page, these have been the items that have a higher priority on what the sailors and their families need:
1. Gift Cards: NEX (Navy Exchange) gift cards and/or Visa gift cards for uniform and clothing items
2. Headphones or Earphones
3. Navy Blue Shirts, White Shirts, Socks, Black socks for their boots, Underwear, etc.
4. Any type of comfort like pillows and blankets since they will be moved to different locations for beds to sleep.
