Trump treats the military as his own – and the troops could suffer

When you take ownership of something you treat it better than if was a loaner. Past presidents could have cared less about the military at all...at least he is trying to plus up budgets and make us stronger than we were before.

The point of the military is to create a political outcome, based on that leader's policy. Obama pulled troops out of Afghanistan and Iraq to demonstrate his commitment to "peace". Trump takes a harder line on making sure the other side is also committed to peace through the use of the military when they demonstrate otherwise.
As for his use of "my generals," EVERY president at one time uses that phrase. Obama used it, Bush used it, even Lincoln used it.
