Trump Suggests France Would Have Been Defeated Without US

The French were overrun and surrendered to the Nazi's so it is not a "suggestion" that they would have lost, it is a fact that they DID lose and in a very big, ugly way. The only reason there is a Europe to still talk about is the British under Churchill who fended off the Nazi's until we were drawn into the conflict.

The French, under Petain surrendered in June of 1940 and Petain was later tried and found guilty of being a Nazi collaborator. His death sentence was reduced by de Gaulle.

Not once but twice

I don't understand why Trump would be upset with France and other European countries wanting to create a joint Army to act in their own defense. He claims they aren't doing enough to protect themselves......and then criticizes them when they propose to do just that. This makes no sense.
