Bass told CNN. “We don’t know if we’re going to be successful. We have to see if the Taliban is interested in responding to the deep desire of the Afghanistan people for peace.”
Bass is the Ambassador. His quote shows how the war in Afganistan is a big fat lie to the American people.
#1. The Taliban don't give a flying f*** about the will of the people. They will continue to fight because the Infidel is on their Holy ground. Also, it is the will of the one true god of the Kabba they care about. It is called Sharia Law.
#2. The Taliban control the narritive. It is called Sharia Law in the Koran
#3. The Taliban are not the insurgents. We are.
#4. Unless our strategic planning changes to bleeding the enemy. Because, we are on Holy ground. We will bleed too heavy.
IMO, understanding the enemy is key. They will come to us. All we have to do is take ground we wnat to control, fortify it, have avenues of approach, run patrol with drone to see forward and around the patrol. Then, set up anbush. Near and far. With established grid coordinates for artillery.
The amount of persons in each FOB will depend on how much air support is given.
I'm not a General. I'm a grunt. A General will have to pick where to place his units. It will invole some political concerns. I'm hoping for control of elevation. Now. just bleed the enemy. Otherwise, we fight them here PO1.

Afghanistan reminds me of Vietnam. The key is indigenous support and holding the ground.
