Two points if I may:
1. Illegals do NOT vote, for anyone.
2. Drug importation, production, and distribution, will never be stopped because the profits are too high. We must find new ways to fight the drug problem.
We lost the "War on Drugs" a long time ago, just as we lost the war on booze. All probation on anything does is increase the profits.
Time to learn a new way.

CWO4 Terrence Clark - The New York law does not apply to illegals except those covered by DACA.
"The measure applies to legal residents, including those with green cards, and so-called Dreamers who were brought to the country illegally as children but were allowed to remain under a federal program known as DACA. "

I agree with you on #2. We must make changes to our culture to ever come even close to stopping illegal drug use. A huge undertaking that many do not want to engage in. It would eventually mean the loss of money for lawyers, some law enforcement, private prisons, some courts, and those private rehab centers. Those folks all thrive on the system as it is now. They don't want to see that cash cow end.

To beat the war on drugs all that is necessary is for the Government to open up places for people to obtain their drugs. And charge really low prices. Illegal drugs will cease to come across the border. Step two is to expand the legality of marijuana, which is a gate way drug. Make it easy to get and affordable. People will always find a way to buy it, so make it legal & cheap, and drive the illegal trade out of business.

When Jesse Jackson ran for President and made it to the Democratic debates, the question of military funding and defense came up. The other candidates peddled some nonsensical vanilla responses; however, Jesse’s was *brilliant.* He said more money needed to be allocated to the Cost Guard to defend our (USA) borders. Never forgot what he said. Another debate comment that I’ll always remember was by John Kerry who said words to the effect that the US doesn’t need to tweak SSI/Medicare/etc, as there already = a good system in place. The Congressional Retirement/Benefit system which he said should be good enough for all Americans.
