Too bad the Enterprise was not also included since the Gerald Ford is now like the F35 Junk Strike Fighter $165 billion + over budget and years behind schedule.

Years? More like decades behind schedule. I wish Big E was still in service. Or even take her island and put in on another flat top would've been nice.

Yes we see the Wasp class ships a lot at Fleet Week, very useful ships. Posed that question to speaker at a Navy League meeting recently. Answer received is that big deck carriers can take a wider variety of planes to sea that can not do vertical take off. Refueling short range aircraft is an issue for Navy, that's another topic. Eliminating space for fuel to power propulsion saves space for aircraft fuel, armament. The real question is if vertical take off capability can be extended to more types of planes and become primary for Naval ops. Will source a quest for our WVOX.COM radio show. We are on at 2:35 today with a Navy officer guest, listen in on WVOX.com
