It wasn't that easy nor did everyone seem to work together in the real world. My father served in the Air Force from 54 to 66 and the said he thought his name was either "boy or the word that started with N and ended in R. It's a 100 times better now, but let's not fool ourselves.

The good thing is the racist people die off. It's sad that they did not consider African Americans to be the same. They all bleed red. What's really stupid about today, is the white power people or idiots forget that white people fight white people all the time. The British considered dogs more important than Irish during the Potato Famine and that's why so many of them are in the u.s. and Canada now. When I see white power and those alright idiots chanting that, I think of how White's continue to fight each other in other parts of the world such as Northern Ireland, Bosnia and other places that have ethnic tension among white people. It's good to know today that this is now in Decline.

I understand the sentiments of COL Lawrence McRae and SSgt John Atchison. There was no OVERT racism during my active duty in the 80’s—90’s. However, there was the propensity to quickly criticize real or perceived failures while casting a blind eye to accomplishments.

Capt Dwayne Conyers I have seen those same propensities. A close friend of mine was a black aviation ordnance man. He said he had to be twice as good, not just as good, but above and beyond good, to get real recognition.
