SGT (Join to see) POTHUS Reagan said it eloquently and bluntly. I believe in the 2nd
amendment and gun control should be controlled wisely and responsibly by law abiding citizens using good judgement.

He was eloquent wasn't he SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL? I always thought of him as fair and could get tough if he had to. I wish there were still Presidents like him. I know, not everyone liked him, but the majority did. My wish is, more citizens to become more tolerant and use their right to own a weapon wisely.

When I was younger I thought I didn't like Ronald Reagan because my parents didn't. Now that I'm grown and have learned to think for myself, I agree that he was one of the better Presidents in recent history.

SGT (Join to see) I concur with you that this an ignorant crusade against weapons.
Gun control only impacts those who are law abiding. Career criminal, terrorists and thugs of all stripes couldn't care less about gun laws which is why those areas with the highest gun control legislation in force tend to be hardest hit by violent crime - there are exceptions obviously; but thugs gravitate to areas where they know they can use force with minimal opportunity of ending up in a body bag.

I agree with most of your statement. The problem I have is "assault" weapons shouldn't be sold to the public" Why should the criminal elements have access to them but not law abiding citizens? The problem with that theory is the limiting of thr type of firearms one can own. That opens the door to other types being banned. Im not talking about missiles, or nukes because thats silly and neither are firearms. The 2nd amendment doesn't state a particular firearm for a reason. And we can debate those reasons but the fact is, those type of thoughts infringe on others rights.

SPC (Join to see) - I had to reread my post after reading your comments. I did not specifically respond to SGT (Join to see)'s introductory comment "I believe that assault type weapons shouldn't be sold to the public."
The way I read that in context is that assault type weapons should not be available to the public including criminals.
I think we generally agree that legitimate collectors with permits including museums should be able to purchase historical automatic weapons.

Bit thats my point sir. No law would stop criminals or terrorist from obtaining assault weapons. Hence why they are criminals. What we need to do is enforce the current laws on the books and make punishments more harsh for those who commit crimes with firearms. Im no judge or lawyer ut if it were me it would be life without parole for using a gun in a crime. Would that stop all crime no of course not but I think it would send a clear message to would be criminals. I own assault weapons and so why should I be punished for the actions of a few nut jobs? When I haven't broken the law?
