I would prefer having the border open to legal immigrants and traffic only. Unless he rolls 450 - 500 buses a day, this is symbolic at best. Even so, if he gets it up and rolling I'll cheer him on. I understand the bill says the illegals have to "voluntarily" board the buses. Can't wait for the first bus load to roll onto DC.

I can recall in the 70” s seeing long lines of Mexican nationals crossing the border, legally at San Diego to shop, then returning home. Oh, happier days. Leviticus 19:33-34, and other passages, discuss the treatment of sojourners. If I ruled, a computer program would annotate a need for a worker, unfilled by a USA citizen. A work permit would be issued, the person would work and return home. This is a way of life for many in the trades, to follow the jobs.

President Kennedy did away with that exact program. The Bracero Program. He (and Cesar Chavez) believed Americans deserved those jobs, primarily agrucultural. Then, President Johnson came in and plunged us into the welfare state we've become. Paying Americans not to work.
