Excellent share. I agree that there is so much that used to be routine school work that isn't taught anymore. Caring for and helping others is definitely at the top of the list. Everything taught these days, both in and after school, is about what you must do for yourself, not what can help society and the community in general. You are spot on that the military is a place where people can learn compassion, kindness, caring, dependability, etc. but the problem is such a small percentage of the population is ever exposed to the military. This lack of awareness on these issues has slowly crept into our society, one only needs to look at the craziness in the political world to see this. The me before all else attitudes that are becoming more and more prevalent are slowly tearing apart the American values that we knew and saw in our youth.

Pretty much same in our family, but we are constantly reminded that we are becoming dinosaurs.
