PO1 Steven Kuhn I'm absolutely willing to have a rational, educated conversation with someone who isn't going to make personal attacks and false assertions as to my character. I'm thinking that you and I can converse. So whilst I disagree with your assertion that 90% of all worldwide terrorism has been committed by Muslims (do you have a citation for this?), I will agree that it's justifiable to look at Islam with skepticism. I agree with that because I view all organised religion with skepticism, including my own religion.

To outright declare the things that have been said, however, and to paint every American Muslim soldier, sailor, Marine, and airman with the same brush? Absolutely unsatisfactory. These are our brothers. To denigrate them and broad-brush classify them in the same category as the people we're currently fighting in the Middle East is, to me, unconscionable.

And the entire point I originally tried to make -- to pretend that religions like Christianity don't have their own zealots? To disguise it and fob it off as mental issues? That's false, hypocritical, and that's why it's irony.

Specialist Wolcott, you have attacked my integrity, honour, and character one too many times and now you want to play the martyr because I returned fire with aimed fire. You can't understand why I downvote you every time you malign and slander me? Really? Are you that dense that I have to actually explain this to you in terms that will cut through? I'm not obligated to explain a single thing to you when I downvote you. I don't owe you anything. Who do you think you are to make demands of me, Specialist? You continue to violate Army directives regarding social media. I've attempted to keep it professional with you for far too long. Frankly I'm at my wits' end coupled with a loss for words how to get you out of my proverbial three metre kill zone. SSG Tim Everett , I do not intend to judge anyone as I do not have the right. I will find the citation to validate the point I made earlier. I notice you did not argue with the statements regarding the mistreatment of women as it is public knowledge and has been in the news. I too, enjoy the company of several Muslim friend. One friend I have know for almost 3 decades. I agree that their are peaceful people of all religions. People can get along, while people in power cannot. I have studied the Quran, and several books written by former Muslims outlining the religion of peace. I too, feel that we can have a rational, intelligent conversation based upon mutual respect. I may learn from you and you may learn from me. We may even disagree on points. That does not stop us from being brothers who have served our country, and I respect and am grateful for your service. That being said, I would like to elaborate on my thoughts regarding the religion of peace known as Islam. 1) If the Muslims were offered freedom of religion instead of facing death for renouncing Islam I would be more open to it. 2) With regards to their treatment of women as I mentioned previously, I feel that women are denigrated because the Quran teaches that women are less intelligent than men and that it takes the testimony of two or three women to equal the testimony of one man. 3) America has rushed to the aid of Muslims all over the world when people were trying to decimate them as we respect the right of each individual to pursue their relationship with their Creator personally (even though with Islam the choice is to believe or die). 4) The Quran teaches that it is okay to lie or deceive non-believers, where Christians are taught not to lie (Thou shalt not bear false witness). 5) The Quran has many statements that contradict one another: Sura 19:17 says only one angel came to Mary but Sura 3:42 & 45 mention several. A day to Allah is equal to 1000 Solar years in Sura 22:47, but in Sura 70:4 it is equal to 50,000 solar years. Who takes a soul at death? Sura 32:11 states the Angel of Death, Sura 47:27 states angels while 39:42 says Allah. How lond did creation take? 4 Suras say 6 dfays, but in Sura 41:9-12 the time adds up to 8 days. Sura 2:29 says that the Earth was created first, then the Heavens, but Sura 79:27-30 reverses the order. How were human beings created? Sura 96:12 states a blood clot, Sura 21:30 says water, 15:26 says burnt clay, 3:59 says dust, 19:67 says nothing, 11:61 says earth, and 16:4 and 75:37 state a drop of thick fluid. There are many more. The basis for the Quran was that the Angel Gabriel revealed the holy words to the Prophet who could neither read nor write. His scribe mentioned changing several verses to add emphasis and the Prophet agreed. The scribe later disavowed Islam since man could changed God's Word. 6) Paradise to Christians is being in heaven with God, where material things such as gold are used as paving material (thus implying that true wealth does not stand upon material things) while in the Quran men get 72 virgins and rivers of honey (material things). From a Christian's viewpoint, God loved the world so much that while we were yet (and still are) in our sins He sent His one and only Beloved Son to bear the burden of our sins. God sent His Son to die the death we deserve because of our sins. Islam teaches that Muslims must die for their Allah. Muslims say that they believe in the Old and New Testament but that the versions we have are corrupted even though ours are centuries older than theirs. In 1995 they opened up an old burial chamber in the dome of the Rock and found earlier revisions of the Quran which an esteemed professor on Islam has digital photos of. How can it be the unchanging word of Allah if there are earlier revisions of it? Muslims believe that Islam existed at the time of Abraham when he was ordered to sacrifice the son God promised him and delivered. Our Book says the son was Isaac and that in him would be the seed of the promise (Jesus). Muslims believe that it was Ishmael, but Hagar and Ishmael had been sent away at God's command. So, from a theological standpoint there are many differences. Jesus also said you would know them by their fruits. Looks at the fruits of Islam as compared to Christianity. Many of the lands that are now Muslim were once Christian and were converted by the sword. No where in Christianity does it say believe as we say or die. Vengeance belongs to the Lord. Not so in Islam. Also, America and the Christians (and non-Christians) have sent more aid worldwide than any other nation. I have already posted that America was founded upon Judaea Christian values and that our legal system uses the 10 commandments for its foundation. We have much more to discuss, and I look forward to having an open and mutually respectful discussion with you. Thank you for taking the time to read and contemplate what I have posted.

And SPC David Wolcott & SSG Tim Everett I would like to remind you that we are all comrades in arms. We are allowed to have differences in opinions, but to personally attack anyone does neither of you any justice. I respect both of you for your right to have your opinion and your respect to have differing opinions. Am I a religious zealot? I believe that the Bible is the inspired living Word of God and that Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of the Father Who was crucified for our sins and by the power of our Loving God was raised on the third day. I do not follow religion, but a Risen Savior. If that makes me a zealot, then I will accept the title with honor. I will not, however, attack anyone who does not agree with me verbally or physically because we were given freedom of choice by God since the Garden of Eden and I lack the right and wisdom to take it away since it was given by God. I would hope that in the interest of all of us learning something from one another we could use our mutual service to our country as a basis for mutual respect regardless of our differences. If we focus on what we have in common we will not get so annoyed with what we have that separates us.

Is there anyone is Rally Point who was alive during the Crusades? How about the Civil War? No?

Like many pure bred American mutts, I had ancestors who fought in every war right down to when I returned from Afghanistan 8 months ago. I'm not responsible for anything bad that was done to anyone who died decades, even centuries before I was born. If ANYONE is so eaten up by what happened to their great-great-grandfather that they can't live in peace with their neighbor, THEY are the enemy, regardless of what their religion, race, sex, or whatever is.

In other words, let's figure out what is right and wrong today and quit making history an excuse for blame and hate.

SGM (Join to see) - I used the Crusades to suggest this is not a new problem and all major religions are guilty of zealotry at one point or another.

1SG Michael Blount, I appreciate that. Basically I see two kinds of people at the extreme ends of this argument.

One said says, "Crusades", as if that explains everything. Heck, add the Inquisition, if you wish. The problem with that side is that just because someone did something horribly evil does not give someone else a free pass.

The other side (Obama's side) ignores the clear relationship between terrorists and the religion they are desecrating. It's not Islam's fault that there are terrorists desecrating their religion, but that doesn't mean the peaceful members of the Islamic community shouldn't be telling everyone who will listen that terrorists are the scum of the Earth and are using Islam to justify being scum.

Of course, there are also those who want assist al Qaida in its mission to cast this as, "Islam against the West." You can tell these folks because they claim Islam is satanic, or worshipping the moon god or something else equally prejudiced, ignorant, and unhelpful.

Striped down to the minimum, this is peaceful people against those who will use anything they can to justify being inhuman monsters (and that's really defaming any inhuman monsters, but the English language isn't sufficient to express my loathing of such scum.) But what, "all religions are guilty of", has nothing to do with the current argument. What do you plan on doing, getting out a scale and stacking one crime against another? Is there ANY crime on this planet which is acceptable because of something that happened decades or even centuries ago?
