The last governor election here the Democratic party hammered the abortion thing with an ad of an incest victim and a rape victim. It made Cameron, who ran a pretty weak campaign already, look like an insensitive monster and a woman hater, even though the number of abortions for those reasons are minuscule. While I am not pro-abortion, I am a political realist enough to know that the "abortion rights" side has used these exceptions to win elections they would have otherwise lost. The way to deal with that issue is to allow the exceptions for rape, incest and the life of the mother. We can be realistic, make a fairly easy compromise and win elections, or take a hardball stance and lose close races.
