"Burn the rich" is nothing new in America. Those who gave the most and became the richest were vilified as "The Robber Barons" when, in fact, they never robbed anyone. They gave value, good value, for the money they received. They were so good at giving value that they grew wealthier than any others. Still, they were vilified. Sadly, those who become wealthy through political entrepreneurship are the real "robbers". They take without giving anything but promises in exchange and We the Deplorables end up paying the price

I've always loved this argument about how the rich are always stealing money from the poor. These are the same people who are complaining about the Walton family wealth while they are shopping at Walmart. I had one person complain about Mark Zuckerberg being so wealthy... on Facebook.
People don't seem to understand that you can't complain about someone making money for selling goods or services while you are actively giving them money for goods or services.

Some people can't financially afford to choose. In the case of Hermiston, there just wasn't any other options. It was a poor, country town. No potential for growth.

SSG Jessica Bautista - And why is that? No one was poorer than my parents families. They were coal miners living in shacks provided by the coal mine owner and shopping in his stores. They had no closets, cabinets, or trunks because they had nothing to put in them. One of my father's siblings was born with a life threatening defect and the coal miner paid for his treatment. No, he wasn't a bad man. My father escaped the poverty by moving to a place where there were better economic opportunities. As far as I know, that option still exists, doesn't it?

CPT Jack Durish I moved 800 miles away with nothing but the clothes on my back where the cost of living was 75% less than what I was originally paying to survive. I went from working 80+ hours a week with no food in my belly to working half that time and getting 3 meals, a house, a growing family, and leisurely time to kick my feet up.

CPT Jack Durish I can't say why people didn't invest in their community. I know there must have been farmland somewhere because migrant workers took up residence seasonally. I don't imagine the majorly older population is scrambling to create businesses. Teen pregnancy was pretty rampant, considering the size of the population.
Personally, I lost interest in the area after being tailed in the stores a dozen times and pulled over in my car for having out-of-state plates. Apparently I look like a degenerate.

Meeeehhhhhhh....There are a few important caveats to this "not really robbers" thing. John Rockefeller paid the Colorado governor to use the National Guard of his state to break a strike. The strike was over unfair wages and the "company store" mentality. Totally justified what the workers did. Nothing crazy at all.... But Rockefeller called in a favor and the Guard committed what is now known as the Ludlow Massacre. Killed women and children, all because Rockefeller didn't like his bottom line getting messed with.

SSG (Join to see) - I can see Cpl Scott McCarroll - point in that. The Press of late has done a lot to incite riots and violence, especially in the last 2 years. Every time a cop shot a criminal they were there pushing the race issue and not reporting the facts, they spent a lot of time going on and on about violent Trump supporters (never mind there were no cases of it) this encouraged the left to be violent TOO Trump supporters. ... No he has a point while the Rockefellers did not pull the trigger they set it in motion, the Press did not commit the violence but they Shure set it in motion... all for their bottom line.

I wish I had found that book when I was in school. It should be required reading starting in Junior High, I point it out to my junior people when they start asking me why I think the way I do. It didn't change my thinking more it helped order / clarify, my Political and economic beliefs.
