Pentagon seeks to cut Tucson's A-10 fleet by more than half

When are these people ever going to learn the value of that aircraft and stop screwing around with it and the ability to support and save the lives of combat troops on the ground in a manner No other aircraft can ? The fast movers cannot replace these functions, the WWII Vintage A1E Sky Raider was taken out of mothballs during the Vietnam War because the fast movers weren't even capable of doing that job and hanging longer in the area. The A10 came along to pickup that role and proved to be the very best choice. These are the same sort of people that though fighter no longer needed guns the missiles could do the job, well inside certain ranges a missile couldn't even get a target lock and guess what the other guys did have guns. The had to add a pod on the F4 Phantom to add a gun and until the F4E came along they were added and not installed. The pilots all know better but the armchair Commandos made these decisions instead of those pilots and Combat troops in the field having input.
