Yes, but, only if the individual advisor you are working with is trustworthy, responsive, accessible, and the company is reputable..

'caveat emptor' - buyer beware. If you are deployed I would at least try to use Skype/Facetime if possible. I would lean towards a person you could meet face to face upon redeployment (if that is the case).

I suppose its possible to get good advice/guidance from an online financial advisor, however the face to face conversation will always prove much more helpful and quicker and accurate than would be lost online. And as always, ensure it is legit.

Be cautious so the guy does not run with your money or charges you for less than stellar financial advice. (1) I would ask for their credentials like Certified Financial Planner (CFP) and so on. (2) Comb the internet and social media. (3) Check their names for scams. (4) Ask for how they charge; Fee, commission, Fee & Commission mix or salary. (5) If you chose to move your money so they can manage it where is it going to move to? Charles Schwab? Bank of America? Nigeria! Many advisors will try to get you to move your money.
Everyone has different needs. Some prefer the face to face in which they enjoy the relationship between with the financial advisor/planner. I choose to move away from the USAA financial advisor that is free and pay for someone downtown Anchorage who is in my time zone and is responsive. I did my research before selecting. Anchorage is a small island.
There are others who are pretty good with their finances and are comfortable with an on-line advisor to do an azimuth check from time to time. In some cases they us robo-advisors and with a yearly check by a financial advisor.
Good luck.
