Being assigned to HQ ARADCOM, which supported SAC, we saw a number of high level firings mostly in the AF, but some of our ARADCOM site commanders.

I knew that this is what it had to be about. I was at Minot for two years. We had Nuke surety isnpections scheduled and unscheduled and exercises in between. It was never a good thing to fail or even come close to failing one of these. Probably good men in those leadership spots but when you are the Head Man Whats in Charge you get the axe for failure!

Back in my SAC days you could fail a SAC IG inspection and survive but failing an NSI was the kiss of death for senior staff.

Lt Col John (Jack) Christensen - As soon as the results were given a surprise vist from STRATCOM General with an O-6 and a suitcase arrived...current wing CC out and new wing CC in...Surprised they stopped at the MSG CC here though...usually the WIng CC is gone as well.

Lt Col Scott Shuttleworth - our sister FB-111 wing failed an NSI back in the 70s. The only leadership positions not fired were in the CCTS, I mean they literally cleaned house.
