nobody learns any of our history in school today, also not learning much of anything useful

SGT Herbert Bollum I'm not in total agreement with what you say here. Whether a person learns history or not depends on two things.
1) Does the student want to learn
2) Do they have a teacher who wants to teach.
I knew a couple of history teachers who do nothing but show videos with short questions to answer on each one. As long as they do the questions they get (not earn) an "A." That's sad. If you look at my profile you will notice I'm a teacher but not history (even though I love the subject!).
@MSG Stan Hutchison is correct on this one, "Some people just refuse to learn."
