Courtesy of government funded Naval Research - this is about something unusual.
It is a delightful interview with the woman who discovered the newly recognized compound, C-15, the first new essential fatty acid to be discovered in 90 years - and that a deficiency of it is a cause for insulin resistance. It is necessary for the health of everyone's cellular metabolic.
She discovered the substance C-15 when hired by the Navy to help Dolphins live longer healthier lives, (Their life span is already twice that of Dolphins in the wild)
The same problems she discovered in dolphins getting fatty liver disease, happens in humans. A change in the dolphins fish diets was responsible for a change in their health.
She connects a change in life style and diet of people in the last century to a nutritional deficiency and what is often referred to as the epidemic of insulin resistance C-15 is mostly found in saturated dairy fats in the human diet. C-15 repairs mitochondria functions.
A lot of good research is shared associated with the increasingly poor health showing up generationally in metabolic health conditions children never used to have. It also seems to associated with endocannabinoid receptors in the body that balance body and mind.
The interviewer provides an idea of what is C-15 is, at start. About 2:30 the interview starts. Its an interesting story, a little over 45 minutes that leads to understanding new essential fatty which our bodies do not manufactured. Hearing the story of the discovery from the person who did the research, up to the published research, is a treat.
