I think people need to know a few basic facts, assumptions, and theories about military retirement:
- Only about 1% of the US population serves in the military. US population is about 330M.
- Only about 15% of military personnel serve to retirement.
- Unless the strategic calculus changes then any changes to military retirement is a "rob from Peter to pay Paul" proposition. Reductions to military retirement will either reduce current costs or will be used to source money for early separators.
- Any changes to military retirement should be grandfathered in such that currently serving personnel or already retired personnel do not have their retirement benefits changed unilaterally.

I'm voting "Go" for two reasons:

1) The need to save money

2) This quote from the article: "Virtually everyone agrees that troops serving today would be grandfathered under the current system."

Realize that with draw down and reduced number of people making it to retirement age, the system with correct itself. As we are now the numbers of retirees continues to drop.
