And wearing a mask. Remember when the government allowed Haitians with HIV to come into the country because it wasn't as transmittable as other diseases? I guess it's not a risk anymore. Ha!

"Updated Pentagon policy prevents the U.S. military from separating HIV-positive service members with an undetectable viral load and also allows them to be deployed, according to a new Defense Department memo announced Tuesday. "
"“In view of significant advances in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV), it is necessary to update DoD policy with respect to individuals who have been identified as HIV-positive,” Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin wrote in the memo. "
This is for people currently serving. People who are trying to join and are HIV positive can be denied entrance. The only exception to that is someone who is at a service academy and diagnosed with HIV.
HIV is completely manageable these days. The stigma around it is really based in nothing more than prejudice and antiquated stereotypes.
