Well, either the leadership of the Navy is terrible at picking Captains of ships, or the officers being picked are a scurrilous lot, or their is a quiet purge going on. Take your pick.

SGT James Murphy - As much as I disliked Obama and DEI, I was an officer then and I did not feel a push towards DEI. I suspect the Navy does officer promotions the same way as the Army, you need not be good at the job they hired you to do, you just need to check the boxes.

MAJ Byron Oyler - I think it helps where you served and what you were as well. I saw it even back in 1967 creeping in but I got attached to ASA which was disbanded in 1973. I saw a lot of the politics side of things even THEN!

SGT James Murphy - The politics are worse the higher you go and a major reason I did not promote above major.

MAJ Byron Oyler - That's why I didn't stay in. I knew too many old timers.

Good evening SGT James Murphy. Excellent post. Thanks for sharing this Brother James. First off, I wouldn't just any Navy Commander or Captain who hasn't earned a Trident pin. That indication shows that they aren't really qualified to be a C.O. of any Navy ship. This Commander isn't really C.O. material in my opinion. :-<
