Muhammad Ali (Heavyweight Boxing Champion)

It's hard to say. It was a very confused time. At least he didn't run off to Canada or elsewhere. He stayed an faced the music. I give him credit for that. And beyond that, he was the finest boxer I ever saw. He was a beautiful young man with a beautiful style. He breathed life back into a dying sport, a sport that was dying because of corruption. He didn't need "the fix". He won through pure talent, skill, and determination. I occasionally watch a replay of his fights in YouTube and marvel just as I marveled then.

Recall at the time being quite irate with him for dodging the draft, no better than a 'battle field CO' so to speak and felt he got off lightly not being criminally punished or banned for life. Then for some reason he was cleared by the courts, and remained loyal to his chosen religious decision. So he must have been honest in changing out, although his timing was not the greatest. Since then I have acquired a much better appreciation of his boxing skills and accomplishments, and come to respect him over the years for remaining an excellent role model, a one of a kind champion athlete, a living example of what boxing can do to someone, and for remaining honest his entire life.
