So sad, and yet so many stories of strength, survival, and rebuilding came from that tragedy. People really show their true colors when the chips are down.

My parents fled the volcano and ended up in Manila. The US embassy gave my parents a few thousand dollars in cash. They flew to the US and that marked the end of their living in the Philippines. That is where I grew up and feel compelled to go back one more time to say goodbye to the country I learned to love.

Amazing story, and one of the Comics I like (Joy K) did go back to learn about his country. And my favorite singer (next to Frank Sinatra) is Martin Rivera.
