Various forms of neurological conditions have become leading causes of poor health and disability globally, with an 18 percent increase in disability-adjusted life years (DALYs) between 1990 and 2021, according to the study published in The Lancet Neurology.
The researchers, who were funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, also found a stark disparity: More than 80 percent of neurological deaths and health loss occur in low- and middle-income countries, highlighting unequal access to treatment and care compared to high-income nations.

Among the top 10 neurological conditions contributing to deteriorating health identified by the 2021 data were stroke, dementia, migraine, and autism spectrum disorder.

About 3 billion people worldwide were living with a neurological condition in 2021, according to recent research is a huge statement. The statistical analysis required to make these determinations involving 3 billion people is enormous. The involvement of the Gates Foundation and the World Health Organization's previous findings does not lend much validation to this statement. The how and who that brought these results would be interesting facts.

I wonder how they determined the parameters for this Study? I mean a whole heck of us are living longer and that is just as true for those SocioEconomic groupings. And there are a couple billion more of us on Earth than fifty years ago. And throughout History, the Richest have always had the best Health Care and Treatment- including access to the best Witch Doctors, Alchemists etc... probably even had the best chickens to sacrifice too. I know my years since I passed 65 would qualify as DALY's years...and yet I am glad for every one of them. Not sure you can escape those ailments if you live long enough.
