History is a lot kinder to the leaders of the war effort in Europe for the mistakes made while driving towards Germany. This operation had alot the right things going for it on paper. Too bad war isn't fought onthat.

I remember the scene when the Dutch boy who was working for Dutch intelligence was waving at a Spitfire or Hawker hurricane reconnaissance plane who took pictures of German tanks and other armored vehicles hiding in the forest. I remember the Bic or the S2 talking to the general back in England showing him these pictures. The general said, those vehicles are probably not operational or non-mission capable. The S2 or Bic replied, if that was so general, why are they hiding them? Besides the bad Crystal radios and not listening to Dutch intelligence that there were two German armored divisions retiring in their sector, what else could go wrong?

One hell of a lot. Especially depending on XXX Corps to make it on time on that single two-lane road!
