The televised debates were great for getting younger folks involved in the process. We teens were more likely to identify with the candidates than during the Eisenhower/Stevenson campaigns.
That election also put the religious affiliation question to rest for almost 60 years; a shame it didn't remain moot.
Good post LtCol Brown!

Your so right LtCol. Robert Quinter, and it's just to bad the way the religious affiliation is raising it's ugly head again.

A debate that was actually civilized where We could actually see and hear the candidates and the way they presented themselves. Religion should never have been a factor and seemed to be put to rest there and it was the candidates themselves We looked at.

The very thought makes me wonder if the Trump/Biden debate will even occur!

I am going to be brutally CANDID about some of the remarks that Charlie's post has generated. We talk about being candid and frankly, I am tired of biting my tongue.
One should NOT be guilty of perpetuating innuendo, disparaging or casting doubt on anyone else's integrity with BASELESS MENDACITY. To do so, does not reflect on one in any positive manner. I, for one, am disgusted with much that many of you have posted and if my honesty, my candor, bothers any of you, so be it.
Is this the way to behave as people who proclaim to be Christians? Is this the way to show that you understand what our Oath to support and defend the Constitution means? Do you really understand the spirit of the Constitution or is there "Cherry Picking' going on to justify your bias? Please stop the uninformed nonsense already.
