I not sure that the deer population would be in danger from food baiting.

In Georgia one can hunt over bait or a feeder. Personally, I don’t. My neighbor used to have a feeder on his lease, with a game cam as well. The deer only would hit the feeder at night or early morning before sunrise.
Our WMA has land where food sources are grown for all the animals can graze. One of the Wildlife Officers posts pics of the different critters on the food plots. Almost all the pics are at night.
Behind my youngest son’s house, the neighbor has a deer feeder. I have yet to see a deer at the feeder during daylight hours, even though I watch them traverse the are in daylight.
