We have evidence written sources outside of the bible that Jesus was a real person. We have archeological evidence the Pilate was a real person. We have written sources outside the bible that speak of darkness at the time of Crucifixion, now we have modern science with evidence of an earth quake at approximately the right time and place, just as the bible records it.

Think about it......Why must you prove anything.....there is a reason God does not come down and prove his existence .....He could move mountains and divert rivers with the sweep of His hand.... so why doesn't He?..... there is a reason why it MUST be a matter of faith and not a matter of fact.....
the same reason God left the forbidden fruit in the Garden of Eden.... He could have removed it.....Why did he leave it.....
Simple..... " Life was God's first gift.....and FREE WILL....the ability to chose your own path in life was his second..... God does not want you to follow him because you have no choice.... He wants you to follow Him because you CHOOSE of your own FREE WILL to follow Him....to follow HIS word because it is RIGHT..... not because you have no other choice .....
What is wrong with religion is what man has done to it....how he has corrupted it ..... twisted it..... taken advantage of it..... I suggest you stop trying to PROVE the existence of God....stop quoting scriptures ...... stop following false profits...... Try following the spirit.....that which in your heart you KNOW is right
The Bible says ....among other outrageous things....to KILL anyone who works on the Sabbath..... does your heart....the heart God gave you.....say that is "right"...... YOU KNOW IN YOUR HEART THAT IS WRONG...... If He does not force others to follow him.....why would he task you with the job of forcing others..... He will judge.....He will punish OUR JOB.....is to lead by example.... live in God's spirit....... I need no proof.....

Capt Gregory Prickett - FIRST the Bible is a man made historical document.... it contradicts itself.... having worked in many countries in many languages....I find the possibility of the modern Bible being a faithful translation of the original to be remote....AND even the original version was merely the codification of oral history that I doubt is faithful to reality.
SECOND... The importance of the Bible is two fold....One as a history reference that must be taken with a grain of salt..... it is not meant to be taken literally..... and Two it sets out the principles / concepts of how we should live and interact.... FINALLY you can not use it to prove God.....God can not be proven..... should not be proven......
THIRD.... There may or may not be a God.... the archeological proof are finds that verify many aspects of the Bible,,,, real people real events.....but with all the archeological evidence.....NONE of it proves God....just the Bible's historical accounts....believing in a "creator" is a leap of faith.... I base my belief on two assumptions.....everything has a start.....and something has to start it.....including God.....(which is a separate conundrum )....

Capt Gregory Prickett - If you could locate damage or artifacts in New York city that supported the stories told about Spider-Man...... then of course it would tend to prove his existence.....there are artifacts discovered that PROVE many of the stories in the Bible are TRUE

I am not trying to place a specific date, although the article is. I am trying to show that an earthquake did happen in aprox the right time and location. This is just one little detail , but you are correct we can pin an exact date because we didnt use the same calendar back then and nobody bothered to record the exact date in the bible. It wasn't important to them.

It's possible, but to link the occurrence with the crucifixion of Christ still would be speculation. Even so, looking back in time, even at events such as earthquakes, we're still only guessing. I don't doubt the existence of the historical or biblical Christ, I just understand that modern science, especially when it comes to dating past events is seriously flawed.

I have read in a few journals that Jesus was born in August or September when all the calendar changes over the eons are considered.
