Interesting tech. I seem to recall an even more low tech variant of this theory used by the Taliban in the rocky terrain of Afghanistan. At night they would often defeat FLIR detection by covering themselves with a blanket and laying atop a large rock that had heated up during the day and would still be emitting heat at night.
