The corruption and disregard for rules started at the top and the rot spread downward. This is the problem with letting Comey and othets go without punishment; an example needs to be made.

MSG Stan Hutchison - Their are many questions about Hillary. But just to stand back and say she did or didn't does not prove anything. She appears to have done some questionable things and a clearing of the air would help a lot. But I was not real happy with the last group in office.

Lt Col Charlie Brown - I would imagine they will be fired. I think that is probably the most that can be done.
The FBI has over 35,000 agents and other employees. A few bad apples does not spoil the entire organization. Let's say there are 50 bad apples. (just a number picked for this example. That is just over 1/10 of 1% of the organization. I would wager that is far less that any other organization you could name, including our military and law enforcement agencies. Hell, it's better than even our religious organizations.

According to the article, the IG found the standards to be solid. It's just a small number of employees weren't following the written rules, and created a new norm. Sounds exactly like the Army. . .
Since the author didn't link the IG report he cited, it makes me wonder how he was able to make such assessments. Maybe the IG is having some of the same issues as the FBI?

I am with you on this SFC (Join to see) . I think it was only, overall, a small number. The problem is that they were at, or very near the top.

LT Brad McInnis - I agree, it's still an issue of concern no matter what echelon it occurs. I wanted to make the point that no matter the specificity of rules set in place, people will always deviate, no matter their level. Which is why there will always be a job for a Watcher to Watch the Watcher.

SFC (Join to see) an analysis I saw on Rachel Maddow last night makes sense to me. The concept of being so afraid of appearing to side with one political party over the other led to ignoring procedures. This is why politics should be a total non-player with all government agencies, and DOJ for certain.

I've shared an excerpt from the IG report in a separate post that gives better clarity on what the IG discovered. Bottomline, they discovered a number of FBI officials are sources to journalists (surprise, surprise) and now it's a matter of determining did any of those benefits violate policies on quid pro quo gifting.
