How Military Pollution Could Cause The Next Water Crisis

The United States military's use of a firefighting foam, with the intention to save lives, could turn out to have dire consequences for those who handled it and people who live nearby. PFAS, short for per- or poly-fluoroalkyl substances, have seeped into the groundwater and at times spread into drinking water by way of firefighting foam runoff. Now, communities across the country are wondering what PFAS-contaminated water means for their health, their homes and who's responsible to clean it all up.

This is something the AF is out in front of- this is a common substance in scotch guard and several other products. Not really blown out of proportion but getting close. If you cook eggs in a Teflon pan.....

It is a distant dream when America begun to colonize the country. There were many accounts of crystal clear lakes and streams teeming with fish, and the country had much flora and fauna.

It wasn't just PFA's, it was the dumping of solvents, cleaners, unusable AvGas and other fuel oils/additives, etc., as well. My family and I spent 3 years at Otis ANG Base (now called Joint Base Cape Cod) in the early 80's. Little did we know, but there were rumors (as the Command like to call them - "nothing but rumors, the water is safe to drink"). Later it was found that the surrounding townships had unusual types of & extremely high numbers of cancer-related deaths due to seepage into the groundwaters used for drinking, which happened to be the very same water that thousands of Service Members were drinking. Which leads me to wonder if this led to my wife's Breast cancer which surfaced in 2010?
