The last thing We as parents need is input from some idiot in the government trying to influence where it isn't wanted or needed. ALL MY children turned out fine and made their own choices as adults who they would be. It was our job as parents to provide the basis and safe settings and support for them and We did and they are also doing an excellent job with their own children who range from 14 to 17. The job as parents is enough of a challenge anyway and a least the schools they attended were all very good and not in conflict with our values and actually taught the things that were needed to prepare them for their future life
Having said that, certainly other children in welfare systems or foster care also deserve the same advantages also of not pushing these sort of things on them .Develop them into leaders and not sheep led by an out of control Government leading them down a path influenced by control and undue influence as children. Once they are adults then and only then should they make their own life choices and have the maturity to decide for themselves what they actually want out of life and pave their own path at that point in time.

I don't know what I'd do, what I'd say, or how I'd support my child if s/he said his/her sexual identity wasn't in keeping with her/his genitalia. I also wouldn't know what to do if my child were born with genitalia of both sexes. I do know that suicide is much higher with children who do not fit the mold of "normalcy." I don't think Governor Whitmer is, in any way, an "idiot." I think she's trying to provide leadership in an area that is filled with emotions, lack of understanding, and a society that is much more complex than what generations in the past had to deal.
