I did not know this about Abraham Lincoln. Amazing what you can discover by reading, instead of being on your computer for hours on Rally Point.
It is remarkable that Abraham Lincoln never delivered a Fourth of July speech.
The closest he came was on July 10, 1858, in Chicago during one of the famous Lincoln-Douglas debates, when Lincoln spoke of the Founders as “iron men.” He remarked how, every July 4, Americans celebrate those “iron men” and their extraordinary achievement, because we are “historically connected” with it.

SGT (Join to see) well I didn't know it either, however I appreciate the share and read. What a historic President and he showed a lot of humility IMO also.

SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL, I think even if Lincoln had delivered a 4th speech, he wouldn't be remembered for doing so. He accomplished so many more important things.
