They had staffing issues before this. Now with the high unemployment payment, people make more staying home.

This isn't a new problem. We've been hemorrhaging healthcare workers for years. The difference is now people are starting to notice whenever they call 911 or go to their local healthcare facility, there isn't anyone available to see to their issue. Front line EMS and nurses have been telling you for years the low pay, high liability risk, incompetent senior management (who make triple and quadruple what the line workers make BTW), and unrealistic demands by patients and managers have been driving care providers away from healthcare. Covid was just the proverbial straw on the camel's back.

We warned you. You didn't listen. NOW, reap the consequences!

And yet I’m seeing the worst promotion rates ever in AMEDD and have to wonder “is anyone even paying attention?” higher up in the military?
