I myself enjoy driving in the winter - TRULY...
Piece of advice, just don’t find yourself; on a 2-lane road, at 0100, in 25 degrees, snowing, after driving 13-hrs, pitch black in the middle of nowhere NH, the heat blasting to stay warm, the window down to stay awake - and listening to Yanni!
Yes, Santa gave me some candy and a T-shirt in the stocking hanging over the fireplace Christmas ‘95 for that one...

Drove from Dallas to Killeen at night in a heavy snowfall of fat flakes in a 25 mile an hour wind. As traffic on I-35 was moving the same speed and direction, the flakes would often seem suspended in front of the windshield distracting the driver from seeing the important stuff. This optical illusion that quickly resulted in eye strain and headaches. My brother and I repeatedly changed places as about 20-30 minutes of that was all either of us could stand. That night sucked.

I can understand the driving is snow, I went from living in the deep south, then first duty station in PR, then to Maine in January, talk about a real turn of events in learning to drive all over again. Part of my duty at night was to drive to the helix house to make some readings on the nitrogen lines that cooled the transmission lines for the Submarine broadcast antenna. It was a trip with the winds, snow and ice following off of all the supporting hardware and antenna's.
