DoD is the only school system that has no legal footing for challenging the national Transgender school policy SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL. the national policy is that only parents and guardians are authorized to declare a student to be transgender.
Therefore, I expect the first challenge for modification to come from somebody in a DoD school. Some 18 year old will probably challenge the parent/guardian requirement and find a sympathetic court who will cite the UN treaty of the child and declare the policy is not broad enough and disenfranchises children.

OMG ! ! ! Also . . . for the sake of argument . . . why is it up to the parent to assert this newly established "transgender" child's right to use the bathroom of choice . . . when the parents may well not support the child's choice of gender? What prerequisite diagnosis / counseling / therapy may be required to assist a child in even beginning to understand the actual nature and implications of the choices he / she is making? This is a difficult enough path for an adult who can cope with stress . . . how much more difficult for a young child? Warmest Regards, Sandy

CW2 Lindsey Muller - I worry about the health and well being of the sons and/or daughters of some hard charging colonel . . . and feel a diagnosis for the sake of exploring the source and nature of the feelings . . . and exploring options for coping . . . with clear availability of counseling to assist the children with difficulties to adapt. This could be particularly problematic in dependant's school on base or in predominantly military community where children may reflect conservative parent feelings. Warmest Regards, Sandy
