Not Yours to Give: Davy Crockett and Welfare
This article is a compilation from several sources: The Life of Colonel David Crockett, by Edward S. Ellis (1884); Essays on Liberty Vol. IX, published by The Foundation for Economic Education (1962); and the transcript of an old radio program called Life Line, featuring 'Freedom Talks' by commentator Melvin Munn (June 15, 1971).

I arrived here in Texas at 49 years old. Every time I get on the highways, I can relate to how Davy Crockett must have felt in the Alamo. It's like taking your life into your own hands.
