Quite a bit of history of a small town vastly changed in no time at all. My father went through Tank destroyer training at Camp Hood during world war II. He told us stories of the training without firearms , ( because of shortages). That they drilled with mops and brooms.
When new technology hit the battlefield in World War II, the U.S. military needed a place to train specialized soldiers to fight back—and Central Texas became that place. Great historical video. I was stationed at Fort Hood, Texas in 1985 with the 2AD and I was amazed how Killeen, Texas and the surrounding area had grown when I attended Chaplain Training there in 2005.
