Thanks for reminding us of the incident which became synonymous with deliberate provocation for so many peace-niks SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL.
The Gulf of Tonkin Incident and the Congressional response the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution [or the Southeast Asia Resolution, Pub.L. 88–408, 78 Stat. 384 was enacted August 10, 1964,] which was a joint resolution that the United States Congress passed on August 7, 1964, in response to the Gulf of Tonkin incident were bandied about while we quietly moved covert and overt forces into the region of South East Asia fro training, direct action and intel purposes among others.

What a wonderful bit of History and anything about my old "Company" while I wore Navy Blue I find interesting. One of the Major Players is a Museum Piece in Brermerton now. USS Turner Joy and I retired from the Navy not far from where she is Berthed.
