My dog can hear when the mail truck has stopped...I can't hear it. She also gets antsy with in 10 minutes before time to eat. She hasn't been able to understand daylight saving time though.

It wasn't one of our dogs that would do this when I was a kid, but one of our barn cats. One of our cats had litter of kittens one spring and for some reason one of the kittens made me her human, when ever I was outside doing chores she would run up to me and climb my leg and sit on my shoulder till I was done and went in for the night. The only time she didn't follow me around was when Dad & I would bale hay, but when I would go to turn the bales (so the bottoms of the round bales would dry) she'd follow me and if there was a field mouse she'd get a free meal. In the fall & winter she'd climb my leg and lay in the hood of my sweater, when I'd milk I'd make sure she got some. When I leave the house to go to the bus stop, about a 1/4 mile away, she would follow me till I'd tell her to go home and she would. Then when I came home she'd meet me and walk or ride on my shoulder. In the winter she'd be in the hay keeping warm till she heard me getting everything ready to milk, and she'd show up wanting petted and she'd be purring up a storm. When I got out of the Army and got my first apartment I brought her too, she liked being inside, what I didn't know was she was pregnant. She would jump up on the bed and curl up in the crook of my neck and fall asleep, then after a couple hours jump down and find some place to spend the rest of the night. I had made her a whelping box and she would sleep in it. One night I went to bed and I felt her jumping up and curling up, about 2 am I heard a scream in my left ear, I sat up and turned on the light and there she was having a kitten, after she got it cleaned up I picked it up and with her following I put it in her box, she got in and started to lick the little one, I cleaned up the bed and went back to sleep. About a hour later she screamed in my ear again, sure enough she was having kitten #2. To make this shorter, she had 5-6 kittens that night, but she had to be next to me when she had them, no matter where I went, one (the runt) didn't make it. She lived in to her mid teens.
