A welcome home (at the time) would have been nice, never mind a whole damn parade..
It sounds like 'feel good' Civilian bullshit to me..
And before some civilian gets they ass jacked outa battery, I don't mean ALL civilians...

While I will agree that parades do tend to suck, if they are done right, they are magnificent to watch and shows pride in self, service and country. The suck is the long winded speeches that are inflicted on the troops. However, a pass in review (to me) is cool. just keep the speeches short as possible. If we are talking about the proposed March by Mr Trump, yes, it will probably suck to be part of that march, but only because politicians can be long winded, but a National pass in Review, I think, would be good for the nation, and again, show and help instill the pride in our nations defenders. The question I would have about it, are they going to use the units already in the DC area, who are all show units anyway, and used to this kind of dog and pony (it is their purpose after all) or are they thinking of bringing in some line units from around the nation? Maybe just division level staffs with their colors would be cool, but more than that would get costly I think. Certainly not on the level of the old Russian parades I hope.
