Political interference in criminal justice: From Supreme Court to Guantanamo Bay trials - Washington Times OP ED
MY SAY: Not bad. That's a pretty good synopsis. However, to be more specific, the Military Commissions Act of 2009, under Obama, the one that gave unlawful combatant Islamists who want to kill us virtually the same rights you or I would enjoy in a federal court of law, is the current culprit. If we would just take a few moments to review Operation Pastorius, when in 1942, 6 of 8 German saboteurs, caught dry-foot on US soil, were executed less than 8 weeks after their capture. They were denied habeas corpus, tried by military commission as per the Law of War, and then electrocuted to death. Two flipped on the other six. Oh, and the kicker? None of them had hurt a fly nor damaged or destroyed any property. They were simply found guilty of violating the Geneva Conventions and convicted of spying. Boom! Done! People, less than 8 weeks! What are we doing?
