Alcohol and Marijuana are depressants. Those who use Alcohol to cope should attend AA meetings. I went to an AA meeting at the old McChord AFB while I was mending a broken ankle I got in Afghanistan. I got a ride from the base shuttle and attended a meeting just for fun. I rarely drank but my Wife is an AA member and alcoholism is a big problem on her side of the family.

Getting a little off of topic here. I heard stories of command-directed Senior (E8) Ncos going there for drinking/intoxication issues. I also heard stories of people getting kicked out for DUI or using a bottle of wine a day to survive. Others mentioned passing out in a culvert and feeling they were dying due to drinking. I also know of others who drank and needed kidney replacement. Alcoholism killed President Trump's Brother at age of 42. He had a heart attack. SGT (Join to see)

This article may not have a person suffering from mental issues caused by Alcohol, but I suggest those who are not sure if they have a drinking problem seek help at AA.org. There are meetings almost daily worldwide.

Nothing will happen till leadership makes it clear that asking for help is not a weakness but a sign of courage and strength.

Until that happens our brothers and sisters will continue to die.
