This is a good thing. I wonder how far they'll go back to award them? I guess I'll know if I get a DD215 in the mail at some point.

If you have both and they do not go back far enough, I would still wear the new award. We are taught to do what is right, the paperwork trail does not always catch up, and no one is going to ask in a retirement status did the paperwork catch up to you. All they care is did you earn it.

MAJ Byron Oyler I earned my EIB in August of 1989. My CIB was awarded in February 1990. I'll not hold my breath on getting the DD215.

I'll just carry my 6 DD214's with me if they ask. LOL

That will really set them apart from other soldiers Brother Dale. It's the "Been there. done that" award.

When I found out early in my career that all you really need from the medical side was a medical MOS and very simple first aid for the EMB, I lost all interest. "Cool, you can put a dressing on by regulation in a training environment, BFD."
