Civilian organizations understand management. Few understand leadership.

Amen, well said, Sir... and, I would add that even those few that understand leadership can consistently perform those skills.

I was also late to learn this Christine but when I got my act finally together I found out how great "Networking" worked.

SP5 Mark Kuzinski - I was late as well. The problem is telling military personnel to network doesn't work as you need to break it down that they need to widen their net outside of just the military community they are used to. I did not know how important networking was for employment and only learned the value of it once I had already been my military transition leave in May.
