FINE HOLIDAY FARE:
The “Alex Rider” Season 1 plot is intriguing because it deals with a particular genetic engineering scenario that could be afoot in our advanced scientific world today, even in the US (covertly, of course).
“Alex Rider” is a compelling British spy and sci-fi thriller web series based on the novel series of the same name by Anthony Horowitz. In the first season, the unexpected death of his spy-uncle triggers the recruitment of a teenager by a subdivision of MI6, to infiltrate a remote school for troubled teens. You know the Unk had been preparing the boy (unbeknownst to him) for some kind of future danger when the kid states during an attack, “I know Krav Maga.” Filming locations included London and around Sinaia in Prahova County, Romania, for the French Alps scenes. The series is rated PG13 and has a large teen cast but it is darker and grittier than the novels, though still appropriate for teens today (no gore, nudity, little to no swearing).
“Alex Rider” premiered on IMDb TV in the United States on 13 November 2020 and can be watched for free through IMbd >
