It’s all about stealth nowadays. What we really need is a dedicated fighter/bomber killer. Everything can carry bombs now. Stealth can’t do much in a daylight all-out war, if it ever comes. Russia has the SU-57 to kill stealth fighters, so why not fight fire with fire?

PFC (Join to see) - "Daylight all-out war?" You realize that fighters now engage at distances beyond visual range even in daylight with clear skies.

CPT Jack Durish - Just because fighter jets have fancy missiles and radars doesn’t mean they can’t run out of said missiles. If an F-22 runs out of its six AIM-120 AMRAAM and two AIM-9 Sidewinders missiles, then the pilot either has to turn and burn or get close and personal with its 20mm M61A2 Vulcan 6-barrel rotary cannon, located in the right wing root, with 480 rounds. Now if Russia can fund its SU-57 and get it into mass production, the F-22, F-35, and B-2 stealth bomber are screwed. Stealth can’t do any good if they know where you are. All other non-stealthy aircraft have wing hardpoints and pylons, while the F-22 and F-35 store them in internal bays. With that being said, confrontations between aircraft and first impressions are everything. The Russian MIG-25 ‘Foxbat’ has 12 hardpoints, in which it can flash its payload to scare off enemy combatants. Just saying, stealth jets aren’t very good when Ivan is breathing down your neck.

How many times have we heard the F15 was to sunset as new fighters were emerging on the horizon, yet a modification here a tweak there and this aircraft still continues to outperform and impress. Is it the B52 of the fighter world ? Time will tell but this is still the baddest fighter yesterday, today and tomorrow!

"The Boeing F-15X order was pushed by the top brass in the Department of Defense, including both outgoing Secretary of Defense Mattis and his acting replacement, Patrick Shanahan. Shanahan himself is a former Boeing executive."
